Harvester Gog

Harvester Download Harvester @ GOG.com (buy):: Harvester is a controversial point-and-click adventure computer game, written and directed by Gilbert P. Austin, the game was a commercial failure when released, but has remained a cult favorite due to Austin's quirky sense of humor, and the many unique and interesting characters. Harvester is one of the most controversial horror games of its time with a classic point-and-click interface and tons of interesting puzzles. You'll play as the amnesiac Steve (who is such a kidder!) as you try to figure out why you should join the Order of the Harvest Moon and discover the horror that lurks just beneath Harvest's small-town veneer.
Actually there's only one scene which is censored in the European version. This is the scene, and in the European version the video clips are cut off:this is not true. We had played the European version, bought from a computer store and it contained that scene uncut. Some of the stores in Europe did sell also the American version because people wanted to buy the uncensored version. You must have bought one of those.British Board of Film Classification did cut off exactly those video clips I mentioned. You can check the details here.
Hi!I encountered the same issue. This is what you want to do:- Open your DOSBox config file (dosboxharvester.conf) - Depending on whether you're using standard DOSBox or DOSBox Daum it's located under:'Harvester dosboxwindows' OR 'Harvester dosboxwindows daum'- Scroll down to the 'cpu' paragraph or use CTRL + F to search for 'cycles'- Notice the part where it says 'cycles=max limit 35000'- Change to 'cycles=max limit 33400'- Save config fileLet me know if this worked for you.CheersJosh. Thanks for the reply!I wish I could tell you if that worked, but I actually caved and bought the GOG version after weeks of fooling around with.cfg files. I originally tried messing with clock speeds to no avail, though I never tried the specifc speed you provided.
I read the GOG version had a recent-ish update to its code and was still very cheap. With exception of in-game resolutions, the only radical difference from the steam.cfg file I noticed was that it allowed for another scaler option called 'supereagle.' As I said before I have next to no experience with DOSbox, so I don't know if that is a typical option or some custom script the GOG team made.Anyway, using that scaler the cutscenes played flawlessly, and the gameplay was totally unaffected from what I could tell. Perhaps the steam.cfg file also allows you to type in 'supereagle' as a value for the scaler, but I couldn't confirm that as I no longer have the steam version installed. Maybe someone could give that a shot? If it works you shouldn't have to worry about editing any other setttings.
GOG also provided a nice interface for changing video options as well, without having to edit.cfg files directly. Maybe Steam could update this game and conjure some similar magic sometime? Thanks again.
Thanks for your info as well!I didn't know the GOG version provides an interface for video options and was also updated to address the cutscenes issue. If I did I would have bought it from there. As for the possible solution I posted above:I am not sure whether the value to be changed 'cycles=max limit 35000' is the same for everyone on ANY hardware?Could some of you reading this kindly inform me whether 35000 is your standard value, too or not?And yeah, we should get those GOG features as a Steam update as well!CheersJosh. I had the same issue, also with 35000 as the default value. 34400 didn't work, so I input different cycle values, and for me 20000 fixed it. The game still plays fine and the cut-scenes play out entirely. You may still have the issue where the first scene of the cut scene freezes in several frames on the screen, but it will then soon kick over to the cut scene itself. The only negative is that it increased the pause between when the cut scene ends and when you can interact in the game again, but only by a few seconds.
You may need to experiment with the cycles a bit to get it to work for you, but 20000 seems like a good balance on my machine. Originally posted by:This problem occurs because the DOSBox emulator runs the game too quickly and registers a mouse click or keystroke several times a second and usually skips the cutscene accidentally.Try launching the game by right-clicking on it in the Steam library and selecting the second option, 'Denab.' This cleared up the issue for me.Dosbox Daum doesn't fix it, because that's how I played through the whole game.Speaking of which, I finished it last night.

I didn't let the skipping bother me because I figured it was just the scenes that last like 3 seconds that were being skipped.
